2Blox – Traffic Data Monetization with Blockchain
2Blox partnered with BE Blockchain to design and develop its Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) system on the Peaq network. Our team provided strategic consulting, tokenomics design, and smart contract development, covering Device ID management and automated reward distribution mechanisms.
Background
2Blox collects traffic data to help cities and businesses make data-driven decisions. Sensors are installed by community members, who can monetize their observations. Blockchain technology ensures data authenticity, security, and transparency.
Once verified, the data is aggregated and made available on a marketplace. To prevent fraud and ensure contributor commitment, access to rewards requires a license in the form of an NFT.
Initially incubated by Algorand, 2Blox chose to integrate Peaq to leverage its Web3 infrastructure for machines and connected devices.

We designed and deployed smart contracts to manage Device IDs and automate reward distribution:
- Device ID on Peaq → Each sensor is assigned a unique blockchain identifier, ensuring authenticity and operational integrity.
- Reward calculation → An uptime score is calculated daily for each device, based on its active hours.
- Automated distribution → The smart contract allocates tokens according to each device’s performance.
2. Device Identification & Reward Mechanism
- Device registration → Users link their wallets to their devices, ensuring a one-to-one mapping between devices and wallets.
- Token allocation → The system calculates rewards based on the uptime score and predefined smart contract rules.
- Token claiming → Users can claim their tokens by paying transaction fees, with a cooldown mechanism to prevent excessive claims.
3. Tokenomics Optimization

- Anti-inflation mechanism → Dynamic reward adjustments to prevent excessive token issuance.
