Walloon Testnet Project: DigitalWallonia4Trust

dw4t landing page

As part of the DigitalWallonia4Trust program, an initiative supporting the blockchain and Web3 sector in Wallonia under the regional recovery plan, BE Blockchain, in partnership with Settlemint, Multitel, Block0, and under the supervision of Agoria, developed four blockchain demonstrators for businesses. The objective is to make blockchain technology more accessible by showcasing its tangible benefits in simulated situations.

The demonstrators aim to raise awareness among companies through hands-on practice, demonstrating how blockchain can meet their specific needs. They cover a variety of use cases while supporting education and innovation in Wallonia through workshops and hackathons.

Blockchain Demonstrators

  1. Supply Chain: Traceability and Data Integrity This demonstrator shows how blockchain can improve supply chain management by ensuring full traceability of products, from manufacturing to delivery. The goal is to strengthen trust between partners, reduce errors, and provide a shared, tamper-proof ledger for all transactions.
  2. ESG Reporting: Transparency and Compliance This demonstrator explains how blockchain can secure and simplify environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting. By guaranteeing data integrity and availability, it helps companies comply with regulatory requirements and increase transparency with stakeholders.
  3. Document Notarization: Security and Traceability This demonstrator illustrates the efficiency of blockchain for managing sensitive documents. Every action, such as viewing, modifying, or downloading, is immutably recorded, enhancing security and preventing fraud that is often possible with traditional centralized systems.
  4. Digital Product Passport (DPP): Product Lifecycle Management This demonstrator showcases how blockchain and NFTs can track the entire lifecycle of a product, such as an electric vehicle battery. The DPP records each stage, from production to recycling, ensuring full traceability and helping to meet sustainability standards.

Training, Workshops, and Hackathons

The testnet developed for these demonstrators goes beyond illustrating use cases. It is also used in training and workshops organized by DigitalWallonia4Trust, aimed at educating businesses on the practical use of blockchain.

The source code of these demonstrators will also be made available for hackathons, offering a platform for developers to innovate and create new blockchain applications.

Conclusion

The Walloon Testnet project of DigitalWallonia4Trust demonstrates Wallonia’s commitment to adopting blockchain technologies. Through practical demonstrators and educational initiatives, this project enables companies to understand and experience the real benefits of blockchain while fostering technological innovation in the region.
